Paper Issues: Shiny and New

Hi guys! Hope you are having a wonderful New Year's Eve! I am making a quick stop to share a layout I made for the current issue over at Paper Issues. The issue is called "Shiny and New" and I had a perfect photo for it - my new look. I got my bangs back! Yay! Love them!

I used the Mixed Company line by Heidi Swapp. For some reason, I often choose Heidi Swapp when I am scrapping about myself. It's just... well... me.

The blue Flea Market thickers by Crate Paper were perfect here.

Love the golden touches in this collection. Love the Color Shine mists. Love the ephemera pack. Love, love, love!

You can get everything I used on this layout from the Paper Issues shop. And you can get it with 20% off if you use my code ALEX20 at checkout.

Now, head over to the PI blog and link up your "Shiny and New" projects for a chance to win a $20 gift certificate in the shop.

Can't wait to see your projects!

Today, I wanted to share my top 13 layouts from 2013. The order is by the date they were created, not by how much I love them.

My December Daily

Hi everyone! Every Saturday, I am sharing my December Daily pages on the October Afternoon blog. I thought that I could share them all here as well. Since I haven't shared anything yet, I have to warn you: This post is going to be extremely photo heavy! :-)

I am making my album using the Very Merry December kit and add-ons from October Afternoon.

Lets get started!

I have shared it before, but here it is again. My cover.

And my title page.

Day 1: Linnea lightning the first Advent candle.

Day 2: Linnea writing her wish list to Santa.

Day 3: Me and Adrian making a little shopping trip.

Day 4: My kids' love for each other. The little heart wood veneer is from Studio Calico and it is not included in the kit. I cut one of the sheets to use it as a divider with the word "love" on it.

Day 5: This year's last bike ride to the preschool. The wooden arrow here is also from Studio Calico.

Day 6: Me buying almost all gifts online. Again, I have cut one of the sheets to use it as a divider. This time, I cut little gifts from gold POW paper from American Crafts.

Day 7: Linnea's first show with her gymnastics group. A big day for her. The white alphas are Daily Flash from October Afternoon but they are not included in the kit. The "love this" arrow is by Heidi Swapp.

Day 8: My Christmas photo shoot with the kids. It wasn't easy! :-)

Day 9: Making ginger snaps. Adrian was so mad because I didn't want to let him eat the dough. If you want to see how I made this little felt tree (and another one made with washi tape), check out my simple tutorial on the October Afternoon blog. I added the heart paper clip from Webster's Pages and a little heart sticker from the Eggnog collection from October Afternoon.

Day 10: We got the tree!

Day 11: Adrian has started to walk! He is so proud and full of joy. Especially when he steals the Christmas tree ornaments...

Day 12: Linnea's love for nature and wild life. She is so happy when she gets to feed the birds during winter.

Day 13: St. Lucia Day celebration. I wrote my journaling on a piece of transparency and inserted it in a 2x8 pocket that I cut out from one of the sheets.

Day 14 + 15: A kids free spread LOL I got a new look and I just had to include it in the album. I wanted to look nice for the date with my husband ♥

Day 16: Our traditional Christmas crafting. This year we made these cute candy cane mice. And just for the record: I am loving all the stamps included in the kit!!

That's it for now. If you are making an album using the Very Merry December kit from October Afternoon and you are on Instagram, please share your pages by tagging them with #verymerrydecember. I would love to see what everyone else is making!

EDIT: I linked up my "Bucket list" page to the We're LISTening issue over at Paper Issues.

Life.Paper.Scrapbook: December Color Challenge

Ready for a new Life.Paper.Scrapbook color challenge? This month we are playing with the following color scheme. My fave so far!

I have used the Flea Market collection from Crate for my layout.

Love all the gold touches in this line! It's not the easiest thing to photograph though.

Yeah... what can I say? I am kinda in love ♥

Our sponsor is Big Picture Classes and the class they are giving away is Project Real Life with Becky Higgins.

I hope you feel inspired to join us!
Thanks for peeking in!

Sticky Note Holder

When I am about to make something other than a layout or a card, I try to make something that I will actually use. As you know, I am going back to work in January so I decided to make something I can bring with me. Since I am a sticky note junky, I made me this cute little holder :-)

I have used a cut file from Lori Whitlock and a white Limba woodgrain cardstock to make my base. I decorated both outside and inside using the Hey Kid collection from Pink Paislee. I have a star paper clip from Webster's Pages as a lock. If removing the paper clip turns out to be annoying, I'll add tiny magnets instead. I just found this to be prettier ♥

Wish an altered sticky note holder could make me ready to go back to work... :-)

You can get everything I've used to make this holder in the Paper Issues shop. Use my code ALEX20 to get 20% off if you decide to get some of it.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

EDIT: I am linking this note holder up to the "Count Your Lucky Stars" issue over at Paper Issues.

Make a Wish

If I could make one wish right now, it would be that my maternity leave didn't have to end along with this year. If I could make two wishes, the second one would be to make the Pink Paislee team *grins* I've been waiting for their call! And now when they actually have it, I am almost too afraid to apply. I get like this when it means too much. If I don't apply, then they can't reject me and then I can't get hurt. Pretty simple equation LOL

And while I am gathering courage, I am working on projects they have asked for. Layouts I have, but I need to make a card and something "other". I started with the easy one: a card. This is how it turned out.

I made it using the Pink Paislee Color Wash line together with Tropical Sherbet and Star Field washi from October Afternoon. The arrow is from the Mixed Company ephemera pack from Heidi Swapp and golden alphas are from the Luxe collection from Pink Paislee.

You can get the products above in the Paper Issues store. Use my code ALEX20 at checkout to get 20% off your entire order.

Now I only have to figure out what altered project to make... and dare to apply of course :-)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Paper Issues: My Happy Place

Hi friends! I am super excited to share this new issue with you! Paper Issues' awesome sponsor this time is... (insert drum rolls here)... Chic Tags!!! Woohoo!!

We got their amazing School House line to play with, and let me just say - WOW! The paper quality is outstanding! So thick and beautiful. This is what I came up with.

All the bits and pieces in this collection made this layout come together pretty fast.

The Studio Calico Thataway feathers went perfectly well together with this collection.

I stamped the A+ with a stamp from the Daily Flash Milk Money collection.

Eeeeeek! Love the rub-on pencils!!! The arrow is from the Urban Autumn collection by Amy Heller for Lily Bee and the font I used for my title is called It Ain't Rocket Science

The theme for this issue is "My Happy Place". You can link up something made using the Chic Tags products or anything else that fits the theme. The prize you could win is loaded with Chic Tags goodies! I hope you will play along with us!
